Our Core Beliefs

Jesus Christ is the one and only sacrifice for our sins and he arose from the dead. (1 Corinthians 15:1-8; John 3:16)

The Bible is the inspired Word of God – a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. (2 Timothy 3:16; Psalm 119:10)

Every person has worth as a creation of God, but all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

Forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to those who trust Christ as Savior and Lord. (John 3:16)

Those willing to obey Christ should repent of sin, confess their faith and be baptized into him for forgiveness of sins. (Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38)

The church is the Body of Christ on earth, is empowered by the Holy Spirit and exists to save the lost and edify the saved. (Ephesians 4:1-16)

Jesus Christ will one day return to take God’s children to be with him forever. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

Our Leadership

This church is led by God and His word.

The congregation is to have Elders and Deacons qualified based on the qualifications set forth in the scriptures.

We are not a part of any denominational structure.

We are a self-supporting self-governing body of believers in Christ.

Our Worship

We have communion every Sunday where we commemorate and celebrate the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ as our Lord.

We sing without musical instruments as the early Christians did. We invite everyone to sing!

We pray together, read scripture together and we learn more about Jesus each week with a sermon preached from the word of God.

Our Beginning

After Jesus had been crucified and raised from the dead He walked this earth for 40 days. Before He was lifted up to Heaven to be seated at the right hand of God. He called His Apostles to go to Jerusalem and wait for the Helper, the Holy Spirit to come (Luke 24:44-49 + Acts 1:2-8). The reason Jesus was sending the Holy Spirit to the Apostles was so that they would be equipped with the ability to carry on His work after He leaves for Heaven (John 14-16 + Luke 24:44-49 + Acts 1).

In Acts 1:9-10 Jesus is lifted up to Heaven. In Act 2:1-13 Jesus sends the Holy Spirit to empower the Apostles with Spiritual gifts. In Acts chapter 2:14-36 the Apostle Peter preaches the first gospel sermon. In verse 37 the crowd asks what they need to do to become a follower of Christ. In verse 38 Peter tells them what they need to do to be saved. The rest of Acts 2 shows that 3000 people responded to the gospel by being baptized that day and were added to the body of the saved (Acts 2:41).

It was on that day that the church that belongs to Jesus Christ was established. We believe that the Church that Jesus established in Acts 2 has survived over the centuries and it continues to be alive today. We believe that the church today should be modeled after the church Jesus describes in the New Testament.

The Church of Christ is not only our name but it is our description. We are a body of believers and followers of Jesus Christ. We belong to Him.

Organizationally, we are followers of Christ and Christ alone. One of the significant differences between the organization of the Churches of Christ and other groups of believers is that each Church of Christ congregation is independent of all others and is led by the Lord and His word—and the Lord desires that each congregation be led by a group of elders who are under the authority of Jesus Christ.
